A London Marathon Thank you

April saw this year’s Virgin London Marathon and what a great day it was. The weather was lovely for the spectators/supporters but a bit warm for the runners! Ability Bow had their usual spot at The Grapes in Narrow Street. Victoria was up early at the start on Blackheath. She spotted quite a few of our runners and was able to give them encouragement and remind them that we would be there to cheer them on at just over the half-way mark.

David Haye signed boxing gloves up for grabs

David Haye former world heavy weight champion has very kindly donated us a pair of signed boxing gloves. They are up for grabs in our silent auction; just submit your bid to us in the gym or on Facebook or Twitter. The highest bid wins – simple!

Groups & classes

Our various groups and classes have seen an increase of over 100% attendance this year. We now run Heart Ability , It’s Never too late, Keep fit with Learning Disabilities, Reach Ability for MS , Reach Ability – mixed abilities, Keep Moving with Stroke, Keep moving with Diabetes, Ladies only and Positive Steps! Positive Steps features extra components of: a walking group – Fridays at 2pm , where a small group go walking in the lovely Victoria park and classes at Bow Haven and The Bromley by Bow centre , all lead by Drew which are very successful.

Support our cyclists at Ride London

Did you know Ability Bow has two cyclists fund raising for us in our first ever Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100. It is an exciting new cycling event on Sunday 10th August from the organisers of the Virgin London Marathon. 20,000 cyclists take part and it aims to become the largest charity fundraising cycling event in the world. It’s perfect for both club and recreational cyclists.
