Team changes

As you may have noticed the gym is very busy these days with ever increasing demand; the waiting list has 63 people on, which is around a 3 month wait. Now that we have many groups here including the newly launched It’s Never too late and Heart Ability there are times when you may find as a wheelchair user you will have to wait to enter; there is a limit of 5 wheelchairs at one time due to health & safety so please ask for a timetable if you want to avoid particularly busy times.

Can you volunteer on our Open House Day ?

We need volunteers to get baking once again – on March 31st we’ll be having an Open House Day for funders, commissioners, gym members and referrers to learn more about what we do here – look out for updates and publicity nearer the time although it’s a day to inform service users we’d like to have a bake sale again as thanks to all your wonderful efforts for the last one it was very popular and an effective fundraiser. We’d also like help from volunteers on the day, so if you’re happy to show people around the building and possibly chat about your experience of Ability Bow let us know !

Our Appeal

To bring you up to speed on our service and financial situation we recently put an appeal letter out to over 400 contacts. You may have seen it in the press; we asked for volunteers and donations to help our team to reduce the waiting list and provided graphics which illustrate our financial position and membership breakdown etc.

Razeen's Marathon Video

For the first year ever we are excited to say we have one of our own staff team running the London Marathon for us. In his short video (part 1) Raz explains more about our charity from the perspective of one of our team. If you haven't been to our unique gym this is a good way to gain just a little understanding of the great work that goes on here. We believe Raz's commitment in what is his first ever marathon shows just how important his work with disabled clients is to him.

Out & About at local events

We've been busy connecting with local people at a whole range of fetes and community events over the summer. We offer health checks and talk about our service and the benefits of exercise for people with long-term health conditions or disabilities.
